By 2016, with new Instagram handle “Sophiaasoul,” the young hairdresser’s reputation began to circulate on the internet and through word of mouth. Instantly, she found an organic flow of clientele and was now operating as a self-employed business owner. Having outgrown the makeshift salon at her parents’ house, she was ready to take her business to the next level. Intuitively, she was guided to the perfect studio located within the North Hollywood Arts District, where she would lay her foundation.
As 2018 approached, her hair expertise, love of plants and community connections were on an upward rise. The consistent admiration for her space gave Sophia’s imagination the power to see something bigger. As the studio evolved, it was clear it was not only about the one of a kind colors or haircuts she was doing, it was about the people. Her multi-faceted studio did more than leave you looking good but feeling refreshed and stimulated as well. Within the year, the community recognized her spot for its zen affect, diverse décor and colorful greenery. It became clear that her unique Latin background and LA upbringing shaped her distinctive style.
Sharing plants became the new medium within which Sophia continued planting her seeds. Bringing a native artform to life allowed her to show her love through design. Merging avenues to share the wellness that worked for her. She’s able to exchange positivity, calmness, warmth and togetherness with these living objects. Curating with plants to amplify a spaces vibe. She strives to recreate the calming feeling of entering a greenhouse. People can experience that grounding essence of euphoria in her space and take a piece of that with them. It started as a simple hair salon and has evolved over the last few years into a personal care, plant oasis and community loving studio. Creating and giving back is the basis of her business. She hopes to continue her vision from a live/work studio to a storefront soon.
